![]() IllFonic is a small indie team of 10 developers based out of Denver, Colorado. At PAX Prime 2010, IllFonic decided to announce a PC release of Nexuiz as well. From there, the game quickly transformed into an Xbox 360/Playstation 3 title until PAX Prime, 2010. During presentations at GDC 2010 IllFonic discovered CryEngine 3 and immediately fell in love. When the remake first started, IllFonic used the heavily modified Quake 1 engine Dark Places (used in Nexuiz Classic). In the 2009, IllFonic licensed the rights to re-create Nexuiz initially for a PS3 release. Nexuiz was a game originally created by AlienTrap. Leader boards are designed for social networking, letting players feel more engaged with the community. Nexuiz will feature a dynamic mutator system that allows players to change the rules of the match as its being played as players rank, new mutators become available for them to use. Nexuiz for consoles is powered by CryENGINE 3. IllFonic introduces a new Victorian influenced art style that is simultaneously futuristic and sophisticated. IllFonic brings Alientrap Software's Nexuiz to next-gen gaming consoles around the world while staying true to the game play refined over the years through development. Nexuiz is fast paced with extremely competitive game play. Nexuiz is an Arena First Person shooter coming soon to consoles. The Nexuiz was formed, a series of battle arenas on the home planets of the Kavussari, Forsellian and the ruined planet of Atavirta. ![]() Pit their warriors against each other in the arena rather than on the fields of war, or face total annihilation. Sensing their newest members could spread war throughout the galaxy the nations in the Herald Accord gave the Kavussari and Forsellians a choice. Even though peace settled across their planets, the seething hatred between the races kept the fire of war simmering under the fragile truce. Over time the two races entered into treaties with the Herald Accord, a union between different cultures in the galaxy. In conclusion: a pretty good piece of software for an Open Source game actually. Pluses: free, captivating, cross-platform, and the fact that it brings back some of the Quake spirit.ĭrawbacks / flaws: old looks, sometimes it has high loading times. All I can say is the fact that while testing the game, it kept me pretty attached. Since I can't describe in words the how the game play is, I invite you to personally test this stuff. Anyway, the effects can be turned off, so the game runs quite smooth on older machines too. It features some special effects, part of the OpenGL 2.0 specifications, which can give your Mac headaches if the video card is not relatively new. The game itself tends to bring back the Quake spirit, along with the used futuristic weapons and maps.Įven though it looks a little old, Nexuiz is quite good for a Open Source game. Nexuiz aims at a multi-player gaming target population, but it also offers a single player mode where you can play against some bots on several maps. The distribution package includes the executable code for all the platforms, including here the dedicated servers. It's available for various platforms since it has a great portability. The game is based on a modified Quake engine. Nexuiz is an Open Source (GPL) First Person Shooter game.
